Week 14 Reflection

  • What are the most important aspects of your project?
My project is kind of difficult to make because I really wish I had more space to create more obstacles. The obstacles, the spikes and fire, the roaming through a maze-type arcade game, and the end goal in mind are all important.
  • What can reasonably be accomplished in the remaining time this week?
Finishing/cleaning up the project are the most important goals. Lately, between orchestra rehearsals and testing (PARCC, AP testing etc..), I haven't had a whole lot of time to finish things up. Therefore I hope it is reasonable by at least next week to have this project completed and functioning normally.
  • Are there specific group members or Scratch online resources that could help you complete your goals?
Not that I have in mind. Daphne could probably be a big help because shes making something similar to my arcade styled game.

Week 13 Reflection

  • Which students are planning projects that are similar to yours? What makes the projects similar?
Daphne is making a Ping Pong game which is also an arcade-like game. My game is supposed to resemble something old fashioned as well, like something you would play in an arcade.
  • Do you see any topics or ideas that tie student projects together? What groups could be formed to help those students succeed?
Certain students could be paired together. Like students who want to make arcade games can be one group, students who want to make adventure games can be another group and so on..

Week 12 Reflection

Three ideas for Scratch projects that I like to build would be:
1. Something colorful with sound
2. A game that has new blocks incorporated. I just started using the "join ()()" block and it helped so much! I would love to explore all of the blocks so I can make my creations more interesting.
3. Something challenging to the player. Maybe something with a harder difficulty, sort of like the maze game (just with more obstacles) ~

Week 11 Reflection

  • What kinds of word games have you played?
I have played scrambled and words with friends on my phone.
  • What kind of word game could you make?
I could make something similar to scrabble.

Week 10 Reflection

  • What do the mazes you played have in common?
Each maze had their own unique graphic/concept but they all had one goal in common. You had to get from one spot to the next without failing. Eventually, you have to reach your end goal.
  • What makes a maze a game?
A maze is something complex that should make you think. It has a goal in mind, instructions, rules, and graphics, all of which are needed for a game.
  • What did you see that you'd like to learn how to do?
I noticed how skilled my classmates were and I would like to learn from them. Their animations were so complex and fun, so I hope I can make something as interesting as them. My animation had a little trouble in the script but everyone else seemed to be doing fine. I would like to learn how to make a really interesting maze with very little mistakes.

Week 9 Reflection

  • What did you learn from creating the Story Ideas with the whole class?
This was actually really fun! I learned how cool it could be to create a story with other students and make an animation from that story. I was finally able to switch the backdrop (3 TIMES!) and make the sprite walk (which was something I struggled with in my previous animations). I really had a lot of fun making this.
  • What did you share with your classmates to help them?
My classmates all did really well. I do not really have any advice to give them because their animations were all good :) I hope when they see my animation, they'll learn something.
